Hostaria Cannavota is right in the center of Rome, overlooking Piazza San Giovanni in Laterano, a symbol of Rome and its history. Sitting at the table, looking out through the large window over the homonym church from which the square takes its name you can see on the right hand side the Lateran obelisk made in Egypt in the Pharaonic era (fifteenth century BC), at whose feet is placed, centuries later, the fountain (the seventeenth century. AD) and the Lateran Baptistery (early Christian architecture).

On the left hand side instead, you will see San Lorenzo Palatio (XIII century. D c.), better known as the Scala Santa, which encloses the remains of that Catholic devotion that acknowledges the staircase Jesus climbed to reach the room in which would then immediately be interrogated by Pontius Pilate. Looking back a little, it is possible to see the remains of a section of the ancient Aurelian Walls and Door Asinaria, which has been the southern entrance to the city of Rome until 1574.
